Things I do with my reptiles on weekends
#4
Thank-you for the link. I didn't realize why they are called laneways. We also have back alleys, but they are different. The stores on Bloor St. face the main street and sidewalk. The apartments above them are entered by the back by way of the Laneway. They have decks and terraces and flowers. People live back there.

I went out the back door of the reptile centre and drew big giant reptiles in chalk on the pavement. That was my contribution to the art part of the event.
We stayed out back with some reptiles and we let kids touch them and hold them.

Other sites were doing crafts and food. They were dancing at the place next to us. There was a big poster on the wall at one end of the laneway where people could write down suggestions about what we need to do to make the city more liveable.
Lots of people were walking their dogs along the laneway. People were talking to each other and just enjoying the neighbourhood.
Events like this help pull a neighbourhood together.

I live in a big city, but it is actually a lot of unique neighbourhoods all living side by side. My area is very aware of ecology and living green. We plant trees and butterfly friendly flowers. People plant flowers in the back alleys in some places. I really like it here.Heart
