I am glad they charged her. They split up the animal cruelty charge from the breaking and entering charge. I don't know if they had a stronger case for cruelty and wanted to be sure she was convicted.
It is a horrible thing. It shows poor impulse control. She must have had some anger towards the dog before the incident. It is an action that most people wouldn't even think of doing.
I can see why it would hit so close to home.
