Driven Grouse Shooting...BBC show sparks outrage
#5
There is more money to be made by eco-tourism than there is from hunting. Eco-tourism is sustainable and can be done all year round.  Different birds are around at different times, but there is always something in an area to attract tourists. The hunts are usually once a year.

The eco-tourists could stay longer and make a real holiday out of it. They could buy interesting souvenirs and support local industry.

The hunts last a few days a year and I can't see that  there would be much of a market for T shirts saying " I just killed a bunch of innocent birds" or coffee mugs with pictures of dead grouse on them.

It is two different attitudes to life and the one is sustainable. If the people think it over they will support bird watching tours over bird killing tours.
