The sad truth of animals bound for slaughter
#4
Quote:"For instance, in Canada, the “Health of Animals Regulations” state that cattle may transported for up to 52 hours without being provided access to food, water, or given a rest period."
I was shocked when I read this. I would like to see the people who make that laws go that long without food, water or sleep. The animals do it in a truck that is open to the cold and heat. That explains the high death rate for transported animals.

We have had no success changing the laws to make them more humane. It is going to take more work. There was a private members bill that tried to improve the standards for animals, but it didn't pass. I think that was the reason for the petition.
We still have a lot of work to do. Too many people think farm animals lead happy lives until they are humanely slaughtered.
We need to keep pushing the truth at them.

Quote:52 hours in cramped transportation with no food, water or rest, and the end result -death by slaughter.
I see not much difference actually to the way Nazis treated humans. And considering what we know and are learning more about today; i.e. the capacity for suffering -emotional, mental, and physical, of all animals, to continue to treat them this way constitutes a crime in my opinion.
This is the stark reality. What we do is a crime. Now we need to make it against the law.
