Who watches the watchmen.....that is how I learned the quote. I did have to Google it to be sure I was remembering my Latin properly.
Because the dog was in a police car outside a courthouse no one would have thought to check the cars the way they do at the mall. We assume the police know what they are doing. No one would question a police dog in a car. The poor dog never stood a chance. No one was watching the watchman.
That is why the police officer is more responsible then a regular dog owner. I don't know what they will do to the police officer. Nothing will bring the dog back, but they can't just let this go. They need to make a point so that no one is ever tempted to leave a dog in a car. It wasn't an intentional death, but it was at least criminal negligence.
