I have heard that roosters crow when the light returns. A lot of animals wouldn't have much of a sense of how much time has passed so they would think it is a short night. A lot of people don't judge the passage of time well either.
The 70% was like an overcast day except that the light looked odd. There was an odd shadow effect. The sky was a strange colour. It wasn't blue exactly. It seemed more of a grey with greenish overtones.
In 2024 there will be a total eclipse in Canada so I will make a point of really observing what happens.
