We have a spider called a huntsman in Australia they can grow really big but don't do any harm they go after insects mainly,a lot of Aussie homes have had them one time or another,I had one running around for a long time he left me alone I left him alone all was fine til he came down off the top of the wall where he mainly lived and went into the fruit bowl and freaked me out,then he was tossed outside they're scary to look at but pretty harmless,unlike some of our other spiders.
