The news coverage has been good even though it is a snake. As you say there is no reason why a reptile should be considered less worthy of being saved.
They even did a follow up. The snake was not a Python, it was actually a Colombian Boa, it is actually a girl and her name is Chocolate Chip. Her owner was very happy to see her and she was very happy to see the firefighter.
Reptiles usually get bad publicity. Just once I was happy to see a positive story. It was touching to see how the fireman carried the snake.
That made me want to cry. It was kind to hold her so she would feel safe.
