It has got people talking here in Toronto and I do think there is some work being done to change the laws in Quebec. It helps that they just had an election and a change of government.
The Mercy For Animals group needs to keep the story in the public eye. It helps that they just did a chicken hatchery exposé. The more you unsettle people the better.
I think veal is not such a mainstay of our diet so the whole industry could collapse and that would end the systematic cruelty. If a few small farms raised veal as a specialty item, they would not want to be linked to cruel practices and so things would have to be different. I have never liked the idea of veal. The whole idea of eating babies seems creepy.
