The cruel reality of the Betta Fish trade
#4
Quote:That is very sad to hear. This post reminds me of a video i saw before some years. It was a competition of which team cooks faster. The guy took a fish from a bowl or something and then put it in hot oil while it was still alive ! [Image: sad.gif]
Then he put the fish in a plate while it is half alive and he poured some gravy on it. Similar thing with a snake which seemed more horrible, he cut it's head and entire body faster to small pieces and poured some gravy on it.
The person who came to check which team won, this person touched the pieces of snake body while it still had some movement ! I thought how that can be considered as a competition and it's one of the most cruel things i have seen.
This is horrible. I have seen videos of animals being served alive. I can't believe they would allow this in a cooking competition.

I overheard someone on a bus talking about eating a live frog in a restaurant in Toronto. I didn't hear the name of the restaurant. The guy was excited about his experience.

Quote:I'm afraid that humans are a very mixed bunch. Some are aware of the issues of compassion and respect for all life forms. Others are "spirit dead" and only care about themselves and close family. The suffering of others, especially other species, is for them an irrelevance. Sometimes I am ashamed to be human when I hear or see the cruel things which they do.

We can but hope that humans will develop more sensitivity and compassion. In the meantime, all we can do is publicise and fight acts of cruelty.

You  are absolutely right. Some people are "spirit dead". No matter what they do they feel nothing. They can look at a live animal on a plate and eat parts of it and feel nothing. Most people just don't know any better and we can teach them. The "spirit dead" just don't learn. Maybe they can't be reached. I don't know.
I do know there are good, kind, enlightened people who are making a difference in the world. I just hope there are more good people than "spirit Dead" people.
I believe we are moving forward, towards a kinder better world. It is hard know about the cruelty when we are trying to move towards goodness. I know change takes time, but for many little creatures there is no time left, there is only suffering at the hands of cruel people.
