New Zealand closes a road to help a sealion raise her newborn pup.

A sealion has come up out of ocean and had her pup in the bushes of a golf course. Because she must return to the ocean to feed, she has to cross a particular road frequently. This would put her at risk. To keep the mother Sealion safe and help her raise her pup, the local city council has chosen to close the road for a month. They are also asking golfers to give the sealions space. Dog walkers are asked to keep their dogs on a leash when in the area.
New Zealand Sealions are an endangered species and quite rare so every effort is being made to keep them safe.

Closing the road is the right thing to do and it is wonderful that they are actually doing it. It seems the mother sealion made a good choice when she chose to have her baby on the golf course. I hope all goes well for her.
