Animals in danger in Kiev Zoo

Thousands of animals are trapped in the danger zone in the zoo in Kiev.  The animals are stressed because of the shelling and food is scarce.

I can't imagine what they can do to protect the animals. Really all they can do is make sure they are fed, watered and kept clean. 
I don't think they could safely evacuate the animals. Maybe some could be moved, but it is not safe to do so. 
We just have to hope for their safety and admire the dedication of the zoo staff who are risking their lives to be there.
