There are some very odd animals living around Vancouver. They have the usual sea slugs and flying squirrels. How about a diving water shrew that can run on water. That is pretty unusual for a mammal.
There is also a species of Boa. You don't usually think of Canada having Boas. We have Northern Water Snakes. But yes we do have a Boa, a very small one.
The most unusual is the Bryozoan. It looks like a brain lying in the water. It is actually a colony of animals.

You never know what lives in an area until you really start looking. Can you imagine seeing a little shrew running on the surface of the water.
I guess with nature we have to be prepared for anything.
