The mother has been dead for days now and the baby is still there in the lagoon. Rescuers have been unable to persuade it to leave. There is only an hour a day where the tide is right. It is not an easy rescue. The calf is traumatized and won't leave.
People are out searching for the Orca's Pod so they can reunite the calf with family.
Sadly the mother Orca was already pregnant with another calf when she died. The loss was actually two whales.

This is a sad story. The tides are tricky and they come up so fast and go out so fast. Many lagoons have narrow openings that are not under water at low tide.
It is too easy to misjudge things and end up trapped or even stranded. That is what happened to the mother. Let's hope they can rescue the calf.
