The South Carolina Pickens County Humane Society is in danger of closing. The government has cut its funding and it needs the public to make up for the loss. They were not given notice of the financial loss so they were unprepared for it. Without help they can hold out until Dec 31, 2017. Then they would have to close the shelter.

This is a Humane Society no kill shelter. The government wants to replace them with local animal control who euthanize as part of their methods of dealing with animals. Clearly animals will die if the humane society closes its doors. I hope the local community can rally around them and save the shelter. They will be better off without government money anyhow. Private donors are more reliable in the end.
I wish them every success.
