There was a collision on a major Ontario highway involving a transport truck carrying live chickens.
You know chickens were killed, injured and many escaped. The only things I heard in the news were about traffic delays and what a "clucking" mess it was.
There was no mention of animals suffering. After the escaped chickens were recaptured they probably continued on their way to the slaughterhouse.

I did not hear one word of compassion or concern for the chickens. They were on their way to the slaughterhouse, so nobody cared.
Have we become that callous?
PETA thinks so and plans to put up a billboard in that spot as a memorial to the chickens who suffered and died in that spot.

We use animals in so many ways. We should always be aware of how they are treated. Live transport is a particularly stressful time and it is also very dangerous. Even without collisions, animals are killed in transit. We need to address this issue. How we treat animals says a lot about us and right now what is says is not good.
