Pet sitter charged with animal cruelty
#1
Marie Whelan, a pet sitter has been charged with animal cruelty after a dog in her care was left in a hot car.
The dog's temperature registered at 109F, the highest the thermometer could go.  Penny, the dog, had also been dead for a while.
The pet sitter forgot she had the dog in the car.
The pet sitting business has been going for 20 years, but in recent years there have been incidents. This was not the first time dogs were left in a car.

This time the pet sitter is being charged. Nothing was done at the time of previous incidents.
If the police or the owners of animals had acted on the previous incidents, maybe Penny would still be alive.
If you knew a pet sitter was careless and left dogs in a hot car, you would not leave your dog with her.
Whelan had an actual pet sitting business. Maybe businesses like this need to be better regulated.
Living creatures are involved. Mistakes can cost lives.

Sadly this is not an isolated incident. There have been other cases of dogs being left in cars by pet sitters, dog walkers and even a police officer with a police dog.
The police officer went into the house to have dinner and when he came out the Police dog was dead. Why are we so careless about cars when we know how dangerous they are.

How is there anyone out there who does not know you cannot leave anyone in a hot car.  Even a short stop at a store can be fatal for a dog.
