Polar Bears living in an abandoned weather station
#1
The weather station on an uninhabited island off of Russia was abandoned in the 1990s. The buildings are old and rundown. The bears are now living inside the buildings. Drones were used to capture images.

Bears in old buildings are really part of adapting to climate change. There is less ice and snow. Food sources have changed. Traditional denning sites are less stable. Polar bears are adapting. They feed at garbage dumps when their normal food sources are hard to get. Since they have to spend more time on land, using abandoned buildings makes sense. We are going to see a lot of changes in Polar Bear behavior. They intend to survive.
The pictures of the bears in the buildings are cute, even if their presence is a sign that things are not right with the climate.
