The Southern Resident Orcas form three pods, J, K, and L.
The hunt up and down the west coast of Canada and northern USA. They live separately from each other.
On Nov 10 and Nov 11, they came together to form a superpod. They did a lot of vocalizing and interacting. They did some traveling together.
In all there were 74 Orcas together.

That would have been an incredible sight. It is something you would remember seeing your whole life.
It sounds like it was a social event. A whale reunion perhaps? They couldn't live together all the time because their food sources would be depleted.
They might want to get together when they can. There is so much we don't know about Orcas. They are intelligent and it seems they are socially complex.
I am sure they will be talking about the gathering for years to come.
