Dead Grey whales washing ashore in BC
#1
This has been a bad year for grey whale deaths. Nine whales have already been found dead on the BC coast. The whales are found to be emaciated.
Their food supply is failing them. There have been an increase in grey whale deaths since 2019 when 200 grey whales were found dead world wide.
The number of calves born is the lowest ever recorded.

This is a sign that our oceans are in trouble. The effects of climate change are present in our oceans.
The effects of pollution are present. We need to be concerned. The health of the whole planet is affected by the health of the oceans.

Another grey whale has been found dead. That brings the total this year to 10.

They haven't determined a cause of death yet, but they will. This is a terrible year for the grey whales.
The real problem is their food supply  or lack of food. Food is scarce in their feeding grounds. If this keeps up we could lose even more whales.

The article mentions that they were malnourished. Although pollution and global warming may well be factors, another more important issue may be at play here: overfishing.

The giant industrial trawlers drag immense nets which catch massive amounts of fish on just one run. It is, therefore, little wonder that there is not enough left for the larger sea creatures to feed on. An appalling situation, caused once again by only one species: humans!

There is also a problem with the salmon and the rivers. If the salmon have trouble spawning, there are fewer salmon for the whales to eat.
We have messed up the rivers so badly.  Work is being done to fix things, but it takes time.

This report has a lot of information. I haven't has time to read it all, but it is right here where I can find it.

No matter how you look at it,  humans are the cause.
Either directly or indirectly we have had a negative impact on the grey whales and a lot of other sea creatures.
