Condors nesting in northern California for the first time in 100 years
#1
The California Condors are a real conservation success story. In 1982 there were only 22 birds left.
In 1987 all the birds were captured and made part of a breeding program to save them.
In 1991 they began reintroducing them in southern California. It hasn't been easy, but progress has been made.
In 2022, four condors were returned to the northern pacific region. Now in 2026, a condor pair appear to be sitting on an egg.

This is incredible. I have been following the efforts made to save the Condors. They were on the edge of extinction and now they are nesting in an area that has not seen condors nesting in 100 years.

I couldn't see wild flying Condors when I was in California. I did see some at the San Diego Zoo. They are so beautiful and so big.
It wasn't sure them that they would survive. Now it looks hopeful.
