A gentle rescue donkey called Angelique was shot and killed by a hunter while she stood in her enclosure with other rescue animals.
The hunter claims he was shooting at a deer.

Even if the hunter was actually shooting at a deer, he was aiming towards an animal rescue. There were buildings and people there as well.
Most likely he thought the donkey was a deer. He will be charged with negligent use of a firearm. Also he fired with in 300 yards of a residence.
Even if he is charged and fined, it won't bring the donkey back. An animal at a rescue should be safe from hunters. I hope he loses all possibility of ever getting a hunting licence again. Maybe 100 hours of community service at the rescue would do him so good as well.
