A beautiful bird display!
#11
Since you only see winter starlings you miss the summer fun with them. They raise their babies and at a certain point they leave the nest. They are not ready yet so they follow mom around squalling at her to feed them She will leave them for longer and longer amounts of time. They gradually start eating and flying. She never goes far, but they would never grow up if she didn't leave them.

Years ago a baby starling got chased by a cat. It climbed into a pile of paint cans in my neighbour's back yard and screamed for help. I got there in time, but I had to clean the little guy up. He had paint on him. By then it was dark so I kept him all night. In the morning I took him out side. The trees were full of starlings so I put him down. He gave one cry and a female gave a cry of joy and flew down to get him.
She had spent the night in the dark thinking she had lost him. It was a joyful reunion for both and I am glad I got to see it.
