Two Doves are better than one!

Some of you know that I rehomed a little Diamond Dove. I was worried that she was lonely. The Reptile Centre gave me a second dove for Christmas.
Now I have two pretty little doves.


The first dove is the near one. The new dove is the farther one.

I do not want to disturb them too much so pictures are hard to get.

They are so graceful together.



Now I have to get a bigger cage and get used to dove keeping.

They seem pretty happy so far. The new dove was even cooing.

Oh, good. I'm glad that s/he will have have some company of his/her own kind.

I think they are good together. He was cooing, but because he is such a tiny species of Dove, his coos are a little squeaky. It is so cute.

I have a bigger cage and I still need to get gravel, but I am almost set for dove keeping.

It makes life interesting. I can spend my time off setting up the larger cage. I will be home to watch them so I will get to know them. I want to find out what foods they like and start taming them. They are already calmer so I can change their water without them getting upset.
I can hear him cooing and it is so cute.

That was the plan. I haven't had baby birds since the quail, 12 years ago. As soon as she comes in season they will breed. I think the cage they are in now is big enough. I could look for something better, but they have room for multiple levels of perch and room to eat and limited flight. If they calm down I might be able to free fly them, but only if I think it is safe.

Baby doves would be so cute and tiny. I am looking for a nest for her. I have the fine grass left over on the bottom of the guinea pig hay, I understand that she would like that as nesting material.

Now the two Doves just need to bond.

I'm sure the bonding will come with time. Their cage looks plenty big enough to me, but I don't know a whole lot about birds.
I would love to see baby Doves!!!

I don't know much about Doves, but I can tell if my snakes are bonding, so I figure Doves can't be to hard to read.
I have moved things around so the Dove cage is in a good spot. I have the right food for them. I am trying to figure out what veggies they like.

I think we should get to see baby doves soon enough. I will get pictures. They should be so cute.
