Snow on ice is the worst. It is bad for driving and it is bad for walking.
You did well if you coped with it.

Antifreeze makes sense because you do did below freezing. You don't get enough snow for snow tires to be worth it. We have had snow for months now and it can be quite deep.
Dogs here have boots and coats because it is cold and icy for months. They also put salt on the ice/snow and that is really hard on dogs feet. The salt also eats your boots, your car, the roads and just about anything else. I hate the salt.

I never thought about it, but you would need air-conditioning and that usually comes as part of a central system that includes a furnace.
It would be miserable with out both heat and air. I remember you losing the two hamsters. They can only take so much of a temperature change.

This has just been the worst winter for all of us. Three weeks until spring, even if it snows, it is spring snow.
