Freedom Drivers
#1
Freedom Drivers are a team of volunteers who drive animals from crowded shelters in Quebec to places in Ontario where they can find homes. They work in relays and the animals they transport often would have been euthanized.
It is a beautiful thing that they do.

They are road warriors for animals welfare and they save lives.

I am always impressed by the many good people that are out there saving animal lives. The world is a better place because they are in it.

These dedicated volunteers are doing wonderful work. Thank goodness there are people who care so much and willing to give their time and energy to help.

It is so horrible, that some people are leaving their animals behind or surrendering them to a shelter when they have to move home! And the people who put their bunnies into the shelter because they were going on vacation, saying it would be cheaper to buy new ones when they got home again, rather than get a pet sitter or board them....
I have no words left for that.

Pets end up in shelters for the most shallow and uncaring reasons. It is cheaper to buy a new bunny than to board it, but who would even think about that when the bunny is your pet. Some people are cold and uncaring.

Good thing the world is balanced by the loving, caring, selfless Freedom Drivers. There are countless heroes out there who try to make things right. Once in a while we are lucky enough to hear about them.

Now I understand why they are moving pets from Quebec to Ontario.
Leases expire and many people move on the July first weekend.
Many people are being forced to give up their pets and the shelters are over loaded. That is why it is so important that pets be driven to safety, especially this weekend.

It is not always easy to find a place to live if you have a pet. I would think it would be better to be sure you have a place before you get a pet.
I think if there are enough challenges, the "no pet" clauses will not hold up.
