Iringa the elephant has died

The three Toronto Zoo elephants were moved to California a few years ago. They have done well there, but our old girl, Iringa has died.

I was just thinking about the elephants the other day and wondering how they were doing. Iringa was given as good a life as possible here in Toronto and later in California. Iringa will be missed.

Blessings to Iringa, who will not be forgotten. She will be welcomed on 'the other side' I am sure and will be happy there.
She sounds like a unique and lovely character.

It's good that she had nearly 2 years to enjoy the Californian sanctuary before passing.

If I remember it right the elephants that ended up in zoos were actually orphaned or else they were going to be culled. Iringa's life with us was better than she would have had elsewhere. She was a grand lady and I enjoyed seeing her, the many times I was out at the zoo.
It is beautiful to think that she will be reunited with the rest of her herd who passed on before her.
