Greyhound Racing
#1
Animal rights activists are trying to bring attention to the issue of Greyhound Heart dog racing.  It seems so many of the racing dogs are euthanized, millions of them:

Greyhound racing has a real dark side. I don't know if there any good statistics, but  not all the greyhound puppies are allowed to grow up. Dogs that are injured or do not win are often euthanized.

There are greyhound rescues, but they  only get to rescue a small number of the dogs that are part of the industry.

I admire the work of the activists who are bringing the truth to the public.  If we are going to see an end to greyhound racing we have to keep pushing against it.  Sports that use animals like this are always a problem. Animals get hurt and animals that do not perform well are considered expendable.  I hope they are able to shut the track down for the sake of the dogs.

The poor greyhounds, another breed exploited by man. Yes, this has to end.

There's been a lot of talk about this in Australia, as well as a big issue about them using live animal baits when they train the greyhounds.

We did some posts about the live bait issue in Australia. I actually watched all the videos. Greyhound racing has a very dark side.

I can't find the link to the previous post. I will look for it tomorrow.

Thank-you for finding and posting the links. I don't know why I couldn't see it. I must have been more tired than I realized.

I think when we look at all the videos and articles coming out about greyhound racing, it is clear that the bad practices are the industry standard. There are no "bad" tracks and "good" tracks. They are all the same with minor variations. The whole industry needs to be shut down. It is clear they cannot run the dogs without cruelty. It doesn't matter if it is live baiting or dog killing it is all part of an ugly picture.
