April Fools day animal jokes
#1
Some of the articles I came across were pretty obviously a joke, but I was fooled by at least one of them.

I forgot it was April Fools Day, but the Search and Rescue Guinea Pigs tipped me off. Guinea pigs are just not the stuff of daring mountain rescues. Smiley4

The picture of a piggie in the snow is funny, but they should have been wearing rescue vests.

I just couldn't take drug sniffing guinea pigs seriously. They would eat anything that came their way. Guinea pigs just don't work out are "working" animals.

This is an April Fools day joke, but only sort of because the idea might work and could soon be tried. It just wouldn't work quite so well as the article suggests. I wanted it to be real and I was fooled.

I have to admit, this years April Fools Day jokes are better than usual.

Guinea pigs are lovely, but for a mountain rescue (on 1st April or any other date), I think the traditional St. Barnard might be better at this sort of thing - see http://mentalfloss.com/article/20908/why...heir-necks

What a pity the tale about the brandy isn't true!

The idea of mountain rescue guinea pigs is priceless. They are the most timid animal I know. I think the dogs did a better job. Sad about the brandy, but hot chicken soup would be more useful anyhow.

It seems that people are thinking about how many guinea pigs it takes to mow a lawn and whether the idea is feasible.

If you want the job done in a hurry you are out of luck.   It would take way too many guinea pigs.  I don't know how well they would work out at a solar farm. They can't live on grass alone and they need water and shelters. They don't handle too hot or too cold.
Goats might be more efficient.

I like the idea of herds of guinea pigs roaming the fields cutting the grass, but perhaps it is just the stuff of April Fools day jokes.

I was once completely taken in by an April Fools Day animal joke. This probably happened in the early 80s. I was listening to the radio, and wasn't really aware  what date it was...
And the news announcer said that dinosaurs had been discovered still surviving somewhere in Scotland.

I would have wanted to believe that too. Deep down inside we want the dinosaurs to still be alive.  I keep hoping they will find even one small dinosaur alive somewhere.

The guinea pig solar farm was so believable too. It was very well written.
