Toronto vs. the racoon
#1
Toronto has a program of composting organic waste. We have green coloured bins that people put out on garbage day. It is a system that works very well. The only problem is the racoons who treat the wheeled bins as a type of "meals on wheels" programs for wildlife.
I have come home and found a racoon on my sidewalk having a fine feast of whatever was thrown out. I think the racoons might get away with it if they didn't leave some of the waste on the sidewalk.
People have stones and various things that are supposed to keep the racoons out.

It is not working.

So the city spent the money and developed a racoon proof bin. These bins are good. There will be no more racoon trouble. No racoon can open that lid. The first racoon proof bins were delivered this week.

I will let you judge for yourselves how well the new bins are working.

I think they underestimated the wildlife in Toronto. Raccoons and squirrels are on the same side and who ever chewed the bin open is going to share the contents.

This round of the fight definitely goes to the raccoons.
