Fort McMurray Hamsters
So many animals were left behind and much effort was made to save them.  The Fort McMurray hamsters are two such creatures.

Jack and Peanut were fine and they even got a visit from the Premier when she visited the area. Not bad for a little hamster.

It is good to know how much was done to rescue people's pets. No pet was too small to be remembered and rescued.

What Lucky hamsters! It has been on my mind about all the pets left behind. Larger animals might possibly find their way out of buildings and find safety, but small, caged creatures would stand very little chance.
I'm so pleased that the hamsters were safe.

This is the web site of the rescue I volunteer at.
I have been following the story and a lot of effort has been made to rescue all of the animals in the area. The shelters took in hamsters and lizards and rabbits and snakes. No animal was left behind if they could get to it.

Animals were left in their homes because their owners were not at home when the fire forced people to flee. Most people couldn't get to their homes. The lucky ones have homes to go back to. Sadly some areas neighbourhoods were destroyed. I am sure some pets were lost because of the fire, but it is amazing how much was done to rescue them.

I love the fact that the Premier stopped and actually met with rescued animals.
