World Oceans Day June 8, 2016
#1
June 8, 2016 is World Oceans Day.
However you celebrate it what really matters is an awareness of our oceans and what they do for us.

Just to remind you there is a list of oceans and what they are like.

I am sure if we think about it we can find some way to celebrate our oceans.

It is nice to stop and think about the creatures that live there, and how the Oceans support life on our planet. Without them nothing could live.

One way to celebrate is to pick up any stray plastic bags which are seen drifting on the breeze, either in towns or in the countryside. Many of these will eventually find their way into streams, then rivers, and then out into the Ocean, where they are causing terrible suffering to marine life. And help in some small way to cut down the 'plastic islands' which are accumulating in Oceans all over the world.

I never thought about going out and picking up stray bags. I faithfully carry reusable bags and avoid plastic. Going out and cleaning up after other people takes it a step further.
I do carry extra reusable bags so I can give them to other people and hopefully encourage them to give up plastic.

Plastic is one of the worst things we do to the oceans right now. I do not know how we will ever cleanup the garbage islands.
