Horrible dog thefts in China
#1
A video camera caught pictures of dog thieves taking two dogs from their owners yard.
Keep in mind that it is two weeks to the dog eating festival. Many of the dogs eaten are stolen pets.

It is hoped that someone will recognize the thieves. Hopefully someone will recognize the dogs and save then.

With the dog meat festival approaching it is good to be aware of the work that is being done. There are groups in the area working to rescue dogs now.

I know we all hope that this year more dogs will be saved.

It's horrific that people there eat dogs, but really eating Cows, pigs, Lambs and whatever other animals is just as horrific to me, and countless others. Anyway I recently signed a petition against that practice in China.

It is particularly nasty that they are stealing pets from people's yards to use for the dog eating festival. I guess people can't risk leaving their dogs outside at all.

Distressing to see that this horrible festival is still continuing, despite protests worldwide. Hope is not lost, however: animal lovers in China are beginning to fight this horrendous slaughter. See

The people who love their dogs in China are going to have to guard them well. It is that time of year again, and each year the voices of opposition world-wide increase.

I am very glad to see that opposition to the dog meat festival is gaining some ground. One day it has to end.

Yes, eating any animal is barbaric. But the methods of slaughter of these dogs is beyond horrific, and done torturously in a deliberate manner. The perpetrators of such torture and murder are motivated by money. And they are motivated by consumers who have a completely crazy idea that suffering of dogs means better virility and health for humans!

I must have signed every petition there is in existence. This year I shall start signing them all again. (For those who cannot bear to view the shocking pictures, be prepared, be brave, and block the pictures if necessary with a book...but get those petitions signed!)

One day we will see the end of this!

I am glad there is such strong local opposition to the dog meat trade in China and Vietnam. The end of this horrific industry has to come from within the country. When the people within a country reject something it will have to stop.

They are smart to organize the groups to work together. This gives them more power and better coordination of resources.

I am hoping that the opposition is so strong that the dog eating festival does not go well. If enough people protest an enough people become aware it would seriously hamper the dog meat trade.

I hope people can protect their pets this year. It would be horrible to lose a pet to the dog eating festival.

Unfortunately any operation which has a 'mafia' protecting its interests will be hard to break, except by 110% police and government crack-down and a drastic alteration of animal protection laws.

I don't see any sign of the police trying to stop this.
Right now it would not be safe to walk a dog. The dog would be grabbed right off the street even if you were holding the leash.

If they can just get through this next few days the dogs will be safer.

According to a poll, the results of which were published Friday (17 June 2016) 64% of the Chinese survey group said that they would support a permanent ban on the Yulin festival.

It is clear that most people want no part of the dog meat trade. The whole thing involves criminal activity and is terribly unhygienic.   I wondered about the rabies and it seems I was right. There is a higher incidence of rabies where they eat dog meat.  They have been lucky so far, but they could easily have a major outbreak of rabies or something worse that we don't know about yet.

There is no question that it needs to be stopped. If nothing else, the thefts need to be stopped. Since most of the dogs eaten were stolen, that would end the festival right there.

The police need to do their jobs and pet owners need to hide their pets for a while.
