It seems there is such a strong link to them emotionally just after they have passed.
I am going to have to think about this and get back to you. Over the years I have had a lot of funerals and memorials to attend.
I have had personal losses. I have lost pets(some I was closer to than others). There was such a wide range of mourning styles. Maybe it does come from the deceased.

My pets are usually quiet creatures and we usually have quiet burials. My relationship to most of my pets has been so personal that I don't want to share the loss with anyone, or very few.
