Amazing animal surgeries
#1
I like to balance things. We hear about vets doing bad things. I found an article about some incredible surgeries that have been done on animals.
We hear about the negative things that happen. Here are some good things. The vets did wonderful work and the people were willing to spend any amount of money to save their pets.

I love the people who had surgery done on their goldfish. Good for the vets that they were willing to try. Heart
(Just for the record, 10 years is not old for a goldfish)

I wonder how they are doing now. The cat with a pacemaker could live for many years.

That won't load for me right now. It's altogether strange that I managed to get on here at all tonight! I will try to look at that tomorrow.

Yes there are some amazing surgeries to help all sorts of creatures, and there are some amazing and dedicated vets.
One of my favourites who is based in the UK is Noel Fitzpatrick, "The Bionic Vet". He is basically an orthopedic specialist who invents all sorts of protheses for animals, and does some wonderful surgery, giving dogs and cats years of happy life again after serious injury or malformation since birth.

The surgeries on other species are also extremely interesting. Remember the Toucan with the prosthetic beak?....and many others.
I think it's great that a goldfish has been given a new lease of life!

Surgery on a fish would be quite a challenge. They have to keep water flowing over the gills and they have to keep the fish anesthetized. It has a unique set of problems.

Noel Fitzpatrick, "The Bionic Vet" sounds like an interesting person. I love hearing about people who are able to make animal's lives better.  I found an article about him.

They can do so much now and I like his thinking that we owe animals our best care since we used them for research for so long.
