Sadly the attempt to strengthen Canada's animal rights situation with a new stronger bill has failed to pass.

Sadly the bill proposed by an individual MP has been defeated in the House of Commons 198-84.
I wish it had been closer. We would feel that we almost did the right thing. There were so many good things about the bill it is sad that it failed. It did however open up a lot of discussion. It made people think.
Some of the groups against the bill were against it because they know they are engaging in cruel practices and the bill was a threat to them. We lost this time. but there will be other bills and someday one will pass.
