New Jersey Bear hunt
#1
Sad
The New Jersey Bear Hunt has killed 607 bears since Monday. This of course is the firearms only bear hunt, not to be confused with the October hunt that uses bows and arrows. It only killed 562 bears.

That is over 1000 bears killed since October. That is not hunting, that is a slaughter.

Just to make things worse, a special bear that walked upright and was a bit of a celebrity, is not just another hunting trophy.

Think of how many young bears have lost their mothers in this giant bear massacre. I wonder how many young bears never got to see their second birthday. It is a staggering number of dead animals.

We may be a little late signing the petition, but it is still good to raise a voice of protest. Maybe another 1000 bears can be spared next year.

This kind of killing is madness. It shows no regard for ecological balance and the future of a species.

I'm totally against all forms of hunting can't see the appeal in it aside from the fact I love animals but this is appalling those poor animals.

I agree with you about the hunting. I have no use for hunting.

It is also the size of this hunt that shocks me. They have killed a thousand bears in one area in a couple of months. It is a shocking loss of life. With that many hunters out killing it is certain that not all the kills would be humane. Most likely many animals suffered before they died.  The bear population must be seriously depleted in the area.  I can't guess how that will effect the ecological balance of the area.  It is complex how one species fits in. Removing a thousand members of a species is going to have consequences.
