Innocent Heroes: Animals in War and the Battle of Vimy Ridge
#1
There is a new book being published about the First World War. The author uses the stories of the animals who served in the war to tell the story of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. There were a lot of animals in the war. More than most of us realize. I think a book that makes us aware of their work is a good thing. We need to remember how much animals have benefitted us in all things.

Since Vimy Ridge is a place where Canadians served I admit it is terrible that I know very little about it. Probably that is where my grandfather was wounded so that makes it even worse.  I don't know much more about the animals that served. Perhaps more than anyone I need to read this book.
