Ecological traps
#1
This is an interesting concept. We are changing the environment, damaging it and we are restoring habitats. Not everything we do is as well restored as we think it is. When animals choose one of our habitats or when they are fooled by something we have done they may find them selves in a situation where they can't reproduce and possibly not even survive.  It is an interesting thought.  We have done so much interfering that we need to think very carefully about how to fix things.

The animals may be making bad choices, but we have set it up so they will make those decisions.

Ecological balance and habitat diversity are very complex issues. We can fix things we have damaged without some very careful planning. I am glad they are starting to study the impact of our actions on the animals we have interfered with.

The sad is the baby turtles going in the wrong direction and not making it to the ocean.
Sadder is well meaning humans seeing "turtles" hatching and going away from the ocean and so the people  rush in and put them in the water where they all drown because they are actually Gopher Tortoises, a land species.
