Pet rescue a priority during Eastern Canada floods
#1
I did say after Hurricane Katrina, where people were forced to leave their pets, that people would never be willing to leave their pets again. There is flooding in Quebec and as people are being rescued,  every effort is being made to rescue their pets as well. Foster homes have been arranged where needed. Pets are clearly a priority to rescuers.

Help is being offered so the pets have somewhere to go.

It is good to know that people are being helped right now with pet rescue. It is also good to know that the attitude has changed since Katrina and rescuing pets is seen as a priority.

I am very glad to hear this. It is for the benefit of the people as well as the animals. There was so much heartbreak at Katrina, and animal welfare facilities were over worked and under so much strain. It was a nightmare scenario.
People love their animals and no one wants to see what happened at Katrina ever happen again.

People are distressed enough by the flooding and the need to evacuate. They will have lost many personal things that can't be replaced. Losing pets as well would be too much to bear.  I love the attitude of the rescuers. They are willing to help anything.
We learned from Katrina.

We can't stop natural disasters from happening, but we can handle them well. I think people are being more prepared for things so they can get their animals to safety.

Who can forget the courageous young woman who rode her horse to safety from the Fort McMurray wildfire when there was no other way to get her to safety.

You have to love people who will do so much for their animals and you have to love and respect rescuers who do so much to protect animals in a crisis. Heart
