B.C. Animal shelters overwhelmed by fire evacuees.
#1
With 200 wildfires burning in British Columbia many people are being evacuated. That means many animals are also being evacuated. The Prince George Hunmane Society is running at near capacity. Other shelters and rescues are equally over run. Their volunteers are putting in long hours and everyone is stretched to the limit, but they are doing it. Somehow they are providing for the animals that need them.

This is an extreme situation, but people are there doing what needs to be done.

This article shows a map of the fires. It is hard to picture that many fires burning at once.

Work is being done to fight the fires. People and their animals are being evacuated.
I fear for the wildlife that lives in the area. Some animals will make it to safety. Many will not make it. Mothers with babies may have to make hard choices. If they stay they will probably die. If they run, where will they go and how do they take their little ones.

The impact of these fires is going to be serious and have consequences that last for years.

The only good that can come out of this is renewal of the forests that are ravaged by the pine beetle.
I just hope it rains.
