A raccoon did what in a car?
#1
A female raccoon broke into a convertible in Florida and gave birth to two cubs in the back seat.
Why a car? It doesn't seem to be the most private place she could find. I can't decide if this is funny or weird or both.

It was certainly quite a surprize for the people who work with the car.

I am glad they were able to safely rescue mom and babies and take them to a much better location.
Somehow I don't think a car is the best place for a raccoon den.

I can understand that in a way. She saw an enclosed 'shelter' and decided it was a good spot. She didn't realise that someone was going to come along and want to drive that car. But the car surely must have smelled like people?? Pethaps she was giving birth in a hurry and had to make a sudden decision.

The car would have been shelter and enclosed. As you say, she may have been in a hurry and she might have been young. Perhaps her den was disturbed right before she was ready to give birth.

Raccoons have little fear of human scent these days. They have gotten too used to us.

The owner of the car I hope had a good laugh. That is just too funny. Drop your car off to get it fixed but then it's gets trashed by cute little trash pandas!

They made a right fine mess of it too.

I like the name trash pandas. It is a perfect description.  We have to learn to live with our raccoons. They are not going away.
If that means losing a car now and then, so be it. We have way too many cars anyhow.
