Canada put in a federal law to protect police dogs when they are working. This was done in 2013 after a police dog was stabbed to death in the line of duty. If a person injures a working police dog they will be charged with that crime on top of any other charges.
Jester the police dog was stabbed in the head, but will make a full recovery. The teen who did it has been charged with the crime.

Police dogs put their lives in danger the same as regular police officers. They deserve special protection and I am glad they have it.
Hopefully the law will be a deterrent to violence against police dogs.
I wish there were special laws to protect all working animals. They do so much for us, we should try to give something back.
