B.C. ends trophy grizzly bear hunting
#1
Sadly this years hunt will still go ahead, so 250 bears will die at the hands of trophy hunters. However it will be the last trophy hunting season. The Great Bear Rain Forest will be completely protected. There will be some hunting for bear meat. It is still a big step that hunters cannot fly into B.C. and kill a bear and fly it home as a prize to display.

Even with loopholes any restriction on the hunt is a victory. Any restriction on the practice of trophy hunting anywhere is a victory. The ban is coming because people no longer find such things acceptable. Let us hope that this attitude spreads.

It is especially important that they protect the Great Bear Rain Forest. It is a unique area with very unique bears.

I may never get to see a Spirit Bear, but it matters to me that they are there.

Every small piece of progress is to be welcomed. Killing for trophies is an appalling practice.

Good. It's a positive step and all those steps towards a more healthy relationship with animals are important.Trophy hunting is despicable.

Any cancellation of trophy hunting is good. It sends a message to places that have trophy hunting. We no longer accept trophy hunting.

Any action that respects our Bears is a good one. There may be a fair number of Grizzly bears, but there are few of the white bears. We need to protect them and their whole environment.

I still wish they would have started this summer. It would be sad to be the last bear killed as a trophy. It would be better to be the first bear spared by the new laws.
