Bad news for elephants
#1
This is not good news, not good at all - especially for elephants. The USA is to allow trophy hunters to import the elephants which they have slaughtered in Africa. This was banned in 2014, but is to be allowed again. See http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42005819

I have been hearing this story all day, but you beat me to the computer. It is such an incredible step backwards. So little progress  has been made to protect elephants. How could anyone make things worse for them.

All the work done to protect animals and change things after Cecil's  death has now been tossed away. This will open the door to an increased popularity of trophy hunting. It won't just be elephants that are in danger. Hunters will want to bring back trophies and all kinds of animals.  I am angry and sad. Can no one stop this stupidity.

Mr Trump reversed Obama's ban. Now why would he do that? Yes it is a step backwards, which opens the gates to more trophy hunting, and which is terrible.

I just heard that Trump has reversed himself. In the short term that is good news. I don't trust him though. I doubt he is responding to the outrage against his decision to allow elephant trophies to be imported. He doesn't respond to anything else.

We can take this as a win and then be on the lookout for something worse.
