Students write letters for shelter animals
#1
As a writing exercise grade four students at Ferry Pass Elementary School are witting letters on behalf of the animals in the Pensacola Humane Society shelter. The letters are posted where prospective adopters can see them. This makes the animals more real to those looking at them and the exercise is teaching valuable lessons to the children.

It is a great idea. It helps the shelter animals find their forever homes. At the same time when the children try to write the letter from the animals view point they have to think about how the animal feels. It is an invaluable lesson in compassion and empathy.

Hopefully lots of pets will find home. No pet should spend Christmas in a shelter. Even the best shelter in the world is not the same as being at home.
