HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY

When you live in a northern country anything that celebrates winter being half over is special. Shadow or no shadow spring is in 6 weeks. It is probably going to be miserable cold most of that time, but at least the end of winter is in sight.
If our furry groundhog friend can help us feel better about the weather then he deserves all the recognition he gets.

We have a new groundhog this year. Wiarton Willie died last fall after a good life. He already had an understudy who will take over on Friday morning.

Our groundhogs are different. They are an albino strain. I hope Wee Willie is up to the task. We are tired of winter and we would dearly love to see it end.

Our English Groundhog stuck his nose out, approved the sunshine, then went back in under the duvet.

We have snow forecast for later in the week....

But my grandmother had a saying: "As the days lengthen, the cold strengthens."

So far your grandmother seems to have it right. Winter is not over yet and the groundhog was wise to go back to sleep.
