A turtle with a green mohawk
#1
Out there in the world is a turtle with a green Mohawk. It has other strange features that make it a very weird and unique species. Are you surprised to learn that it lives in Australia and that it slit off from others in its family tree 40 million years ago.

If I came across a turtle like that I wouldn't believe it. It is just so different.
Of course it is an endangered species. The Zoological society of London has listed it as #30 on a list of threatened reptiles.
Because it is so ancient this turtle represents whole areas of evolution that have no other representatives. That is quite a responsibility for us. It is important that we protect the ancient and endangered reptiles. They are an important part of the world's evolution.

Let's face it, that green Mohawk is pretty amazing.

I can't resist posting this set of pictures. The animals are every bit as unusual as the green Mohawk turtle.

I think nature has a sense of humor. After all, look at homo sapiens, they can be pretty funny.
