A new excuse for giving up a black cat
#1
Sad
You think you have heard it all and then this comes along. People are giving up their black cats because they don't photograph well for social media. In other words they won't become an internet sensation and get thousands of likes.

How can anyone be that shallow about their pet. All they care about is how the cat looks on social media. I hope none of these people are on my friends list.  Black cats were already having a hard time. Maybe these people are just really bad photographers. Did they ever think about that.

I would have thought that a black cat on a lightish background would be quite dramatic. But as for social media, it only encourages a "selfie" attitude to life. So I am not at all surprised that such shallow attitudes are now common.

Unbeilievable!

Well said Catherine. There is an art to that kind of photograpy and these people are probably too lazy to find dout what it is. They would rather get rid of an animal who loves them and depends on them. Very very sad.

Maybe animal shelters need to give pet photography classes. Black cats can look very dramatic on any colour. They look good on a patterned background. They always look so graceful and sophisticated.
I am with you Catslave, it doesn't matter what colour a cat is, but I have seen some beautiful black cats. Certainly the cat would look good no matter how you redecorated. That shouldn't matter, but people can be very shallow about their pets.
