Dog who WANTS to be in a shelter!
#1
Gumby has been brought back to the Charleston Animal Society shelter so many times, as he keeps escaping, being picked up as a stray, and was voluntarily surrendered 8 times! He doesn't seem to WANT a "forever home" with anybody.
But when he's in the shelter he's content and never tries to escape. Maybe it feels like "home" for him, or maybe there's something else going on?

Staff have noticed that he seems to be "working" with dogs brought into the shelter, and seems to enjoy what he's doing....

Gumby has a job at the dog shelter and he has a home there. It is what he wants and it is what he is good at. Who are we, mere humans, to argue with the wisdom of a dog.

It has happened before that an animal takes on a job and insists on doing it. Usually it is animals at nursing homes. In this case it is a shelter and Gumby knows he is needed. I bet he makes a difference to a lot of frightened, confused dogs and helps prepare them for their forever homes. Gumby already has the forever home he wants.

We all - humans and other animals - have some sort of mission in this life. We don't always find it, or know it, straight away. But when we do find it, we know.

Gumby has found his role in life. He is doing very valuable work. Blessings to his dear soul!

Good find, Tobi.
